A house wife in company of her sister has been reprimanded in prison in Osun State for allegedly killing her mother-in-law, Rebbecca Oladosu by pouring hot water mixed with pepper on the deceased.

The accused, identified as Taye Lamidi and Basirat Lamidi were arraigned before an Osogbo magistrate court by police.

Police prosecutor, Muslim Jafani states that the victim who was previously admitted in court has later died and asked the court to substitute the former charge with felony and murder.

The new charges read in part,

“That you Basirat Lamidi and Taye Lamidi, and one other now at large, on October 30, 2018, around 1.30pm at Okeyelu village, Ilie, in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit; murder, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 34, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.

“That you Basirat Lamidi and Taye Lamidi and one other now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did cause the death of one Mrs Rebecca Oladosu by pouring hot water mixed with pepper on her body, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 316 of the Criminal Code Vol. 34, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.”

The Magistrate, R. A. Olayemi, adjourned the case to March 21st 2019 and ordered that the accused be remanded in the custody of the Ilesa Prison pending advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions
