An Engineer and popular Entrepreneur, Engr. David Ayodele Asalu, has called on Nigerians at all levels to believe in the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the country witnesses tough economic conditions amidst the Federal Government’s Petroleum Sector reforms.

Speaking via a release made available to the Press on Wednesday, the former House of Representatives Aspirant stated that the Petroleum Sector Reforms, though coming with harsh realities, will on the long run make life easier for the common man in Nigeria, and also make the country’s economy more robust.

He stated that “one of the greatest problems we have in the country today is the poor value of the Naira, which is a result of our over-dependence on importation of essential items, chief of which is refined petroleum products. One of the tough decisions that government must make therefore, is to reform the petroleum industry such that we can refine locally and end our over-dependence on foreign exchange. Once this happens, we are able to cool our excessive need for foreign exchange, stabilize the value of the Naira, and achieve the much desired economic prosperity for all Nigerians.”

“The President has shown great commitment to boosting our local refining capacity in several ways. He has shown the greatest commitment to the revitalization of the Nation’s refineries, while also giving critical support to big private sector players like Dangote to thrive in the industry. Boosting private refining capacity also helps us create millions of jobs for our vast population of unemployed youths.”

Further stating his belief in the President’s vision for the country, Asalu said “While we experience biting hardship today because we are executing long overdue reforms, President Tinubu continues to show that the stability and long-term prosperity of the Nation is his utmost concern. While the reforms are ongoing, his government has also made landmark progress in taking governance closer to the people through the revitalization of the Local Governments and so many other steps of that visionary nature.”

“It is a long road for us, but a necessary journey that we must undertake, to permanently fix the errors of our distant and recent past, and finally make sense of all the natural resources that we have been blessed with as a people. These reforms are in the best interest of Nigeria and we have the rare opportunity to be the generation of people who make the necessary sacrifice to secure our long-term survival”, he said.

Asalu also called on public servants at other levels of governance to diligently play their parts in ensuring the success of President Tinubu’s reforms. He particularly called on State Governors to avoid sabotaging the pragmatic efforts of the Federal Government, in the interest of the Nigerian people. According to him, “we all must join hands, irrespective of differing political parties, to help President Tinubu succeed”.
