In a significant gesture marking his first year as a member of the 10th Assembly, Hon. Bamidele Salam, the lawmaker representing Egbedore, Ejigbo, Ede South, and Ede North constituency on Monday awarded ₦2 million in grants to students’ associations across his federal constituency.

The grants, amounting to ₦500,000 for each student association of each local government, were presented during a prayer ceremony to commence a weeklong activities designed to mark his first year as a 10th Assembly member at Ede.

The financial support is part of Salam’s efforts to empower students and boost educational development in the area.

Speaking during the event, the lawmaker emphasized the importance of investing in the youth, noting that the grants are intended to help students achieve greater success in their academic pursuits.

“Education is a cornerstone of development, and these grants are a token of my commitment to ensuring that the students in our constituency have the support they need to excel,” Salam said.

The Chairman of Public Account Committee of the House of Representatives, reassured his constituents of his commitment to more future projects, revealing that 15 to 20 new projects will be commissioned during the two-long event. These include classroom, road projects, electricity installations and others, all aimed at improving infrastructure across the constituency.

Leaders from the various student associations, including Habeebulahi Kolawole, president of the Ejigbo Local Government Students Association, expressed gratitude for the lawmaker’s continuous support.

Kolawole noted that the funds would significantly impact students across the four local governments by aiding their academic and developmental projects.

The event also captured religious leaders from various denominations, who came together to thank God for Hon. Salam’s journey in office thus far and to pray for continued success in his political career.

Clerics offered prayers and blessings, recognizing the significant strides made by the lawmaker during his five year stay in office.

The week-long anniversary celebrations will continue with various community development activities until next Monday.
