The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent governor of Akwa Ibom state, the winner of the gubernatorial election in the state.
Emmanuel won with a wide margin 355,473 having garnered 520,163 votes and Nsima Ekere of the All Progressives Congress polled 174,244.
The incumbent governor who in 30 of the 31 local government areas while Nsima Ekere, however won in only Essien Udim LGA of the state.
