The Olobu of Ilobu, His Royal Majesty Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan II, JP, has expressed profound sadness over the demise of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff.

This was contained in a statement made available to the newsmen by the monarch in his palace.

 

Olobu of Ilobu described the death of Lt Gen. Lagbaja as devastating to Ilobu and to the nation as it came at a time when his service and leadership are much needed for the development of Ilobu community, Osun State and Nigeria at large.

The monarch maintained the sad development led to the immediate suspension of all ongoing activities marking the 2024 Ilobu Day Celebration earlier schedule for Saturday November 9th as a way of showing respect and admiration the people of Ilobu have for Lieutenant General Lagbaja also allows the community to mourned and pay their respects to him as an exceptional individual.

The monarch hereby called for Lagbaja’s body to be brought to his hometown of Ilobu as a mark of honor and respect for his contributions to the community and the nation also call on Nigerians to remember the immediate family of Lt Gen. Lagbaja, Ilobu Community and the Nigeria Army in prayers as Ilobu mourn the transition of his illustrious son

 

Lagbaja was a distinguished military leader, born in Ilobu, Oyadele’s Compound Ilobu, Osun State, on February 28, 1968.
