The claim
In his address, Governor Adeleke accused Oyetola of abandoning the project initiated by Aregbesola.

He said, “I must also pay tribute to my brother, former Governor Rauf Aregbesola. His administration started the Osogbo Ring Road project before it was abandoned by the previous government. Today, Ogbeni Aregbesola must be happy at the final completion of the project.”

The Ona Baba Oba Road

In 2013, former Governor Rauf Aregbesola flagged off construction of Eastern bye-pass named Oba Adesoji Aderemi Road. The road was to be in four phases. First was Dele Yes Sir to Ogo-Oluwa while second phase is from Ogo-Oluwa to Ilesa Garage.

Ilesa Garage to Oke-Baale is the third phase and the last terminated at Stadium roundabout. The contract was awarded to Messrs Slava Yeditepe at a sum of N14.5bn.

Before the end of his administration in 2018, Aregbesola completed the first two phases with three bridges. He also commenced works on third and fourth phases.

Did Oyetola do anything on the road?

Pictorial evidence available to InsightMedia showed that the completion of asphalt laying of the first lane of the third phase was done by former Governor Oyetola, while his administration prepared the ground and did asphalt laying of the first lane of the Oke-Baale to Stadium road.

The administration of Oyetola constructed the drainages by the sides and built the median along the corridor before leaving office in 2022.

Oyetola in company of his deputy, Benedict Alabi, Works Commissioner, Remi Omowaiye and other government officials visited the road.
