Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has firmly denied claims that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing the speculation on his verified X account, previously known as Twitter, El-Rufai dismissed the reports as baseless and urged the public to disregard them.

He described the rumours as “patent lies” and revealed that legal action was being taken against those responsible for spreading the misinformation.

“Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers,” El-Rufai wrote in a post on Sunday.

A close associate of the former governor also refuted the claims, labeling them as the handiwork of mischief-makers.

The aide stated that as a prominent figure in the APC, El-Rufai would not have joined the PDP without making a public announcement.

El-Rufai’s comments and his aide’s clarification underline his continued commitment to the APC, dismissing the defection rumours as a deliberate attempt to create confusion.
