The Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has dismissed claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the education sector in the state is in shambles.

According to SA to the SUBEB Chairman, Hon Alesinloye Kamoru in a press statement on Monday, the claims are “misleading and unsubstantiated”.

The statement further reads, “Within just two years, we have committed more resources to education than the previous administration did in four years,” said Hon Alesinloye Kamoru, SA to the SUBEB chairman.

“The previous administration’s failure to provide counterpart funding for two years led to dilapidated school conditions, lack of teacher training, and inadequate educational materials. However, the current administration has taken proactive steps to address these issues.

“Despite financial constraints, the governor has provided funds to access grants and cover the inadequacies of the previous administration. This has resulted in the construction of 77 new schools and the renovation of 78 others to modern standards.

“Furthermore, the administration has provided over 10,000 furniture pieces for students and teachers and has established a database for schools, equipping them with computers.

“These efforts have led to improved student performance, with Osun State students now competing and excelling in sports, debates, and quiz competitions”, the statement ended.
