The Nigeria Police has lost another AIG to the cold hands of death.
It was gathered that the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in charge of Zone 8, Lokoja which covers Kogi and Kwara State, Yunana Babas has been reported dead.
Babas passed away three days after the death of AIG Omololu Bishi in Lagos.
Reacting to his death on Thursday night, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, commiserated with the police authorities over “the sudden death”.
While describing the late AIG as a perfect gentlemen and a dedicated officer, Governor AbdulRahman said: “I received the news of the death of AIG Yunana Babas with shock and sadness. It is one tragedy too many.
“On behalf of the people and Government of Kwara State, I condole with the entire police family, especially the Inspector General of Police and the immediate family of the top officer, on this devastating development.
“The late officer is a fine gentleman, a patriot, and a professional cop who was very passionate about his duty to his fatherland. I recall the gallant roles the late officer played in some recent security developments in the zone.”
Recall that Omololu Bishi who was just only recently promoted to the rank of AIG had also died recently.
AIG Bishi died in the early hours of Monday in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital after a brief illness.
Before his death, Bishi who among several other postings, served as a Commissioner of Police in Benue State before he was promoted along with 12 others to the AIG rank by the Police Service Commission (PSC) on December 18, 2020.
