A 40-year-old man named Mutiu Idowu was put on trial by the Oyo State Police Command on Tuesday for the murder of his neighbor Olusegun Rufus, who had given him a loan. Adewale Osifeso, the command’s spokesman, claimed that the suspect confessed to killing his benefactor in order to avoid repaying the money. He claimed that after the 70-year-old victim was killed, the suspect grabbed the car he had pledged as security for the loan and escaped. “One Adesope Adeolu stated at Eleyele Divisional Police Headquarters that on the same date at approximately 0900hrs he discovered that his neighbor’s entrance door was open; which was odd,” Osifeso added. “Upon further investigation, he discovered his neighbor Olusegun Rufus, who was dead in the living room and covered in blood”. He continued by saying that he thought the Rufus may have been murdered. Based on research and reliable information, a man named Mutiu Idowu was apprehended and admitted to killing the Rufus in order to avoid repaying the money he borrowed from him. Additionally, the car he stole after killing Rufus and using it as security for a loan has been found.
