BREAKING: Ahmed Lawan Emerges 9th Assembly Senate President

Immediate past Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan has been elected as the President of the Nigerian Senate and Chairman of the ninth Assembly.

Lawan entered a keenly contested race with erstwhile Senate Leader, Muhammad Ali Ndume, another Senator from the North East.

He polled 79 votes to defeat Ndume who had 28 votes.

Lawan had the backing of the All Progressives Congress as the anointed candidate.
