A coalition of the different resident associations, civil society organizations, interest groups and persons residing and doing business within and around Ikota Housing Estate and Eti-Osa Local Government Area and beyond; Ibeju Lekki and Epe environs have taken to street to protest alleged increment in Lekki toll gate inflicted on them by the Lagos State government through its agent, Lekki Concession Company Limited.

Reading the press statement of the group, the Convener, Aremo Dotun Hassan, Esq rolled out the demands of the residents of the area.

He said, “There is an urgent need for a genuine discussion and constructive engagement via ADR mechanism with the management of the Lekki Concession Company Limited and the Lagos State Government on the previously announced as from 1st of February, 2018 astronomical increase in the toll fares at the two(2) toll points in Lekki.

“To demand amongst others: The immediate Stopping of the planned demolition of the Ikota Housing Estate, as well as the Cancellations/Reduction to N100 Flat rate for all sizes of vehicles of the two Toll Plazas, Publication of the Audited Report and Financial Statements of the Lekki Concession Company(LCC) Limited; to wit; a widely publicized report detailing income and expenditures on the concession contract from inception till date in consonance with Freedom of Information Law.

“The current status of the Lagos State Government having bought back the concession contract in 2013 and any other ancillary demands.
We plead The Lagos State Government considers this rear vantage open opportunity to explore a more mutual resolution with keen and dedicated interest, aimed at consolidating on the giant strides and landmark achievements witnessed in all sectors in the Centre of Excellence.”
