Court remands 3 suspected cultists for fighting in Omisore’s house

An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Monday sent three suspected cultists to remand three for allegedly fighting during a meeting held in the residence of Senator Iyiola Omisore.

It was gathered that the suspects identified as Awotide Oluwasegun, 38; Olamide Adesina, 25; and Rahmani Adeyemi, 40, allegedly acted in a manner that threatened the public peace and attacked one David Agboola and inflicted injuries on him.

According to the police prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, the accused persons committed the offences on Sunday July 7, 2019, at Iyiola Omisore’s residence in Ile-Ife, adding that the accused, who claimed to be members of the Eiye Confraternity, caused apprehension in the area through their action.

The prosecutor also said the three men assaulted David and inflicted severe injuries on his hands.

The accused pleaded not guilty to three counts of conspiracy, assault and breach of the peace preferred against them.

Their counsel, Mr Bolaji Adewale, applied for their bail with an assurance that they would provide good sureties.

Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi did not grant the bail application and adjourned the case till July 25 for ruling on the application.
