Operatives of the Osun State command of the Nigeria Police have arrested one Captain Agbebaku David for impersonation and obtaining of money under false pretense after deserting Nigeria Army in the year 2015.

According to Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode while parading the suspects at the police headquarters in Osogbo, the Agbebaku was re-arrested in that same year de-kitted and consequently dismissed by the Army authority in the year 2020 as Lance Corporal.

He pressed further by explaining details of Agbebaku plight after his dismissal. ” Not quite long after his dismissal, he obtained the sum of three hundred thousand naira only (300,000) under false pretense from the complainant and fled, until 2nd March, 2022 when he was arrested by the police.” Olokode said.

 

He continued by analyzing investigation which was carried out on Agbebaku’s after the arrest.” Investigation revealed that,he was once arrested in Akure, Ondo state for the offence of impersonation and stealing and remanded at Olokuta correctional Centre,Akure sometime in 2019, and was released on January 2020. He thereafter continued with his nefarious acts. He mentioned one Ibrahim Ajibola who was arrested on different occasions as one of his accomplices who conspired with him to sell one stolen Honda Accord car with the registration number RGB-399-MB to a dealer at Abeokuta in Ogun state” CP added.

According to Olokode, ” Agbebaku and Olubunmi Adewale were known to be parading themselves in the society as Army Captain and Lieutenant respectively. Agbebaku and three others at large also obtained the sum of three hundred and twenty thousand naira only (#320,000.00) Infinix Hot 8 phone and his soldier ID card under false pretense from one Lance Corporal Ebimiyen Emmanuel of 2 division Ibadan. Agbebaku and Ajibola went to a licencing office here in Osun state, fully dressed in Nigeria Army Uniform with a riffle to obtain registration number plate for the above Honda car.” Cp emphasized.

“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded” Olokode said.
He therefore used the opportunity to assured the people of Osun of adequate security and also warn criminally minded people to have a rethink.

” I warn the criminally minded people to have a rethink before embarking on any criminal activities, because no matter how smart they are, the long arms of the law will definitely catch up with them, like these ones you’re seeing”. Olokode said.
