EKSU Student Killed by Suspected Cultists

A part three student of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Ojo Segun has been killed by suspected cultists on Monday.

The attack occurred at an off-campus residence called Osekina in Iworoko-Ekiti. Segun was shot severally before he was finally hacked to death by his attackers and his lifeless body was deposited along roadside in the area.

The caused a severe tension among the students as they fear a reprisal attack in the area.

A student who spoke with newsmen narrated that “we just started hearing gunshots and pandemonium followed. What we learn was that he victim’s attackers laid an ambush for him. His assailants caught up with him and shot him severally after the have used machete to inflict cuts on his head. We are now living in fear because of reprisal attacks”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Albert Adeyemi confirmed the incident, said he police have launched an investigation into the killing and that the culprits will be brought to book soon.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Samuel Oye-Bandele has expressed sympathy on he loss of life and advised students to remain  calm.
