Foremost socio-political organization in support of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in Osun, Oye 4 Osun on Friday organized free breast cancer sensitization and screening exercise for the women of the State.

The screening and awareness programme was held in Osogbo, the State capital.

Women of all ages, classes and political backgrounds gathered for the programme, defying rainfall that took over the early hours of the day. They were lectured and taken through the nitty-gritty of breast screening and examination by medical experts who have been invited for such.

Speaking at the event, Founder of the group and senior special assistant to Governor Oyetola on OMEALS, Alhaja Fauziya Folakemi Olaniyan said the programme to compliment the achievements of Governor Oyetola in health sector.

Olaniyan said the programme will be taken to the grassroots across the state to create awareness on one of the deadliest diseases around the world.

“As a group preaching the gospel of good governance of Governor Oyetola, we are also trying to compliment his efforts in different sectors. One of such programmes is what we are having today. The screening is for the women of Osun to let them know the nitty-gritty of the breast screening.”

Also at the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu commended the group for its “laudable Initiatives”, adding that the state is ready to partner such group in taking awareness to the grassroots.

“I want to commend the Oye 4 Osun Team for this laudable Initiatives. Let me use this opportunity to tell every individual or group who intend to partner with us on healthcare delivery that as a state, we are ready for every partnership.”

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with our Correspondent commended Alhaja Olaniyan for always initiating programmes that will benefit the masses. They said the knowledge acquired during the event will go a long way in shaping their lifestyles and improving their wellbeing as women.
