A former academic staff of Kwara State University, Malete Dr. Oluremi Solomon Osunlola has reportedly took his life following a conversion of his appointment from full time lecturing to contract.

Osunlola was a lecturer in the department of Crop Production, college of Agriculture is the Kwara state-owned institution who joined the service of the university on fulll time basis in the year 2010.

Sources close to the deceased made it known that the late lecture’s appointment was in August this year converted to contract and since then he has bend visibly devastated.

One of his colleagues in the institution has promised to help him get another job in the Landmark University, Omu-Aran but he did not submit his credentials to the man that wanted to help till his suicide.

Osunlola went to Ibadan, Oyo State capital where his family members reside and the incident happened there.

Sources in the family members said that the family noticed that he has noe come out of his room long after the daybreak and they were moved to force the door open after sveral knocks.

The Director, Public Relations, KWASU, Dr. Isiaka Aliagan confirmed Osunlola’s death.

He said, “The Management of KWASU, Malete, would like to clarify that the late Dr. Oluremi Solomon Osunlola, was a Lecturer 1 in the Department of Crop Production, College of Agriculture. He joined the services of the institution on a full-time appointment in 2010.

“However, during staff verification, it was discovered that the late Osunlola had already retired from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Kwara Office, before taking up a full-time appointment with KWASU.

“Despite the fact that the deceased violated the rule of his engagement, the university, in August, 2017, converted his appointment to contract, on compassionate grounds. This is all we can say about the late Osunlola.”
