The son of Bello Haliru, the Former Chairman of Peoples’ Democratic Party, Bilyamin Bello, has been stabbed to death by his wife, Maryam Sanda.

Maryam, the daughter of the embattled Aso Savings Boss, Hajia Maimuna Aliyu attacked her husband on the basis of infidelity.

She stabbed her husband in the neck and chest at their home located in Maitama, Abuja after it has been rumoured to her that her husband was planning to divorce her.

A friend of the deceased, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said crisis has been in the lives of the couple for long. he explained that before the tragedy, Maryam had bit off part of Bilyamin’s ear, adding that he was treated at a hospital and later returned home.

He was reportedly advised to leave the house for some time, but he refused.

Bilyamin, a real estate developer and businessman, was said to have complained several times about his wife’s violent tendency to some family members and friends.

“Maryam had attacked Bilyamin before the latest incident, which unfortunately led to his death. The two got married about two years ago when the former PDP chairman persuaded his son to marry Maryam. Everyone was shocked by Bilyamin’s death; it was sudden, unexpected and tragic,” a source said.

It was learnt that the deceased had been buried on Sunday.

Meanwhile the Nigeria Police, Federal Capital Territory Command has commenced investigation into the killing. This was amde known by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja.

Manzah said that immediately Maitama Police Division received the information about the death, it went to the scene and arrested the suspect.

He explained that the FCT  command had since taken over the case from Maitama Division, and that the suspect was in its custody.

According to him, investigation was ongoing, and that the case would be charged to court and “justice will take its course”.
