The people of Gbongan, the headquarters of Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State have gone spiritual in order to secure the favour of Federal Government to site the proposed Federal College of Education in their town.

The traditional ruler of the town, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi who had declared praying and fasting for the people of the community claimed that the town is the most suitable to host the federal institution considering its proximity to both the north and southern part of the country, the Nation reports.

The monarch said, “Gbongan is under Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency, which is the only federal constituency in the state that has no federal presence, especially educational institutions.”

He stressed that the community would continue with the fasting and praying until the Federal Government approves that the institution be sited in the town.

The lawmaker representing Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Taiwo Oluga said her predecessor in office, Mrs Ayo Omidiran moved the motion for the establishment of the institution in the state.

Oluga said, she made frantic efforts on the floor of the House of Representatives before the bill for the establishment of the college was passed into law by the lawmakers, and thereby pleaded with the Federal Government to consider Gbongan, her hometown for the location of the proposed institution.

Several other communities in the state have shown interest in the institution.
