The presidency has reacted to the rumour making round on the social media the President Muhammadu Buhari would be marrying a second wife today.

The report claimed that the purported marriage ceremony will be taking place today, Friday, October 11, after the Jumat (Friday prayer) services in Abuja.

The more the presidency kept silent, the more the rumoured marriage gathered momentum and started trending with the Twitter hashtags, #BUSA19 and #BUSA2019 already trending on Twitter.

According the Nigerian Tribune, Mr Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity has debunked the claim, describing it as a deceptive manoeuvre by those who reportedly fabricated it.

The newspaper reports that Adesina confirmed that there was no marriage taking place at the Presidential Villa as stated in the viral claim. Another presidency source who asked not to be named told the newspaper that there was no wedding taking place at the Presidential Villa neither was the president preparing for any wedding. The source said the claim is entirely false.
