Former House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila Wins Speakership Contest

Former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila has emerged the Speaker of the ninth Assembly.

The Surulere constituency 1 representative defeated another All Progressives Congress lawmaker from Niger State, Hon Umar Bago.

Gbajabiamila polled 283 while Bago who was pacified by several friends and political associates to step down moments before the election had 78 votes.

Gbajabiamila also contested in 2015 where he lost the race to Yakubu Dogara who had the backing of the opposition then.
