To continue to impact positively in the lives of the less privileged, Osun New Era Lions Club Osogbo, on Sunday, installed Lion Dr Adeleke Adebayo as the 9th President of the club.

Lions International Club is a Humanitarian Association, which was founded in 1917 in Chicago, United States of America to serve the less privileged in the society.

During the Investiture Ceremony held in Osogbo, the new president, Lion Adebayo, revealed the Lions Four Core projects adding that he’s ready to serve humanity better than before. He added that service to humanity remains the core objective of the organisation.

“Paediatric Cancer, Diabetes, Vision and Environment, has been the four core project of our Lions Club in Osun State and we will do better in this regard,” he said.

He also added that Lions Club has a Ongoing Cancer screening centre in UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and he’s also planning a Medical Outreach to grassroots as soon as possible.

“I intend to begin a Medical Outreach, to go different communities, look at the problem and treat them for free” he said.

“We use this medium to seek financial and material support from everyone to ensure we complete this project in this next few months.”

Ongoing Cancer screening center

Lion Aare Lekan Owolabi, District Governor of Lions Club International, Nigeria also added that Lions has a lots of programme.
“Lions Club has a lots of programme, our four core areas, to reach out and touch people’s lives”.

Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere, a past president, said Lions must have a heart of services, must be ready with the 3Ts.

“Lion must be concern about the communities around them, must be ready with the 3Ts Time, Treasure and Talent”.

Lion Akere spoke about their projects, he said, “Lions Club built Ophthalmology at Osun State Hospital, Asubiaro, Diabetes center at General Hospital, Ede and the ongoing Cancer Screening centre at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo. These are projects that affect ordinary persons positively”.

One of the Awardee, Dr. Bernice Ayanda, the Director of Nursing Service at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, who excited about the Award of Excellence, described Lions as givers.

 

“They are givers, they have passion for children, Money is nothing when you cannot give” she said.
“Lions are always ready to assist any patients who is desperate in need and put smile in people’s face” she concluded.
