The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has arrived at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station in Russian-controlled Ukraine, amid tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Grossi’s visit is part of the IAEA’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of nuclear facilities in the region.

In another development, Sweden’s foreign ministry has announced its plan to summon Russia’s Stockholm ambassador following his comments about Nordic countries becoming “legitimate targets” after joining NATO. The statement has been met with widespread criticism from the international community.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit the country, expressing his willingness to receive him. The two leaders have not spoken since the start of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In a separate statement, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the chief of the Russian private military company, Wagner, claimed that the recent battles in Bakhmut have “practically destroyed” the Ukrainian army and “badly damaged” his mercenary forces. The situation on the ground, however, remains unclear and difficult to verify.
