As the crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun continues to brew, the Acting Secretary of Igbimon Agba Osun APC, Hon. Oluremi Akintola Omolaoye has said that all the groups within the party in the state is an abberation to the constitution of the party.

He stated this while featuring as a guest on ‘Frank Talk’ of Rave FM monitored by Affairs TV News

Omolaoye explained that the constitution of the APC does not allow formation of groups.

Recall that the Igbimon Agba Osun had suspended a former Acting Chairman of the party, Elder ‘Lowo Adebiyi from the group on issues bothering on party management.

“Forming TOP within the party is an aberration.

“Party made his foundation from group system, that means groups grow to become political parties. The moment a group develops to become a political party so registered by INEC, the group ceases.

“And within a political party, under constitutional amendment even by constitution of Nigeria or of a party, the constitution of a given party does not allow at any point in time to have other groups within the party.

“Existence of Ilerioluwa, Oranmiyan, The Osun Progressives (TOP) and anyother group is an aberration.

“Group is used to press in the interest of a given individual that is not physically known but he is agitating to become something but if such agitation is not properly channeled, it can derail a political party within which such a group is operating.

Speaking further on if the constitution recognizes caucuses, Hon. Omolaoye explained that caucuses are not groups adding that caucuses are sub groups made of party chieftains within the party.

“Caucuses are not groups, they are sub groups made of party chieftains within the party.

“Such caucauses are actually established by the party.

“For instance, Igbimo Agba is a caucus and its established by the party. There are differences between a group and a caucus.

He explained that the suspension of the former acting chairman is because of the interview he granted and acceptance to join TOP without exploring internal mechanism to resolve all grievances
