June 12: Oluwo Denied Entry Into VIP Arena, Accused Of Possessing Someone Else’s Invitation Card

It was an embarrassing and dramatic moment at the Eagle Square, the venue of June 12th Democracy Celebration as the Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, was denied entry to the VIP on Wednesday.

The monarch was alleged to have been in possession of an invitation card that bears someone else’s name.

Despite his vehement protest, he was told to move away from the entrance and kept on the red carpet for about 20 minutes.

It took the intervention of policemen and organisers to ensure his entrance into the venue after which he was offered a seat on the same line where the Ooni of Ife was seated with other invited Emirs.
