Former Candidate of the Social Democratic Party for Ondo State House of Assembly, Owo constituency 2, Hon. Chief George Abbey Awosusi has announced his resignation from the party.
Awosusi in a statement made available to InsightMedia correspondent in Akure on Saturday stated that his decision was informed by the prolonged crisis rocking the party in Ondo State.
The statement reads; “Today I want to inform you all of my resignation from the Social Democratic Party, a Party that we all together labored for through thick and thin, and this we have done without any regrets whatsoever, because for our losses we had our own mental gains.
“I would not underrate or abuse the SDP for whatsoever it stands for, but I will rather appreciate her for giving me a platform to fight for the representation of our people.
“Nevertheless, I joined the SDP in hopes of creating a political power that will serve the needs of the people, I envisioned a platform that will give me an enabled environment that will provide me the ability to grow and to be able to provide me with opportunities to meet with the needs of the middle class and underprivileged members of the society.
“Since my emergence into Political limelight, all these I have been unable to provide for my teaming supporters and ever loyal followers.
“Like a verse I always quote in the Holy Bible “ for he that have refused to provide for his own people, especially his own immediate family has lost the faith”. You all are my own immediate family, and for you all are the reasons why I joined politics to challenge the status quo, unfortunately I have been unable to meet up with this, especially with the increasing demands of our people on human capital development. And now I have grown more impatient with myself before you do with me because you all are my strengths.
“For these reasons, I resigned my membership of the SDP today to work with my brother Dr. Chief Alex Oluremi Ajipe to raise human capital development, for it is when we raise human that we all can have a better and greater society.
“I hereby urge my supporters and followers across to remain calm and resolute as to where next to go shall be communicated at the appropriate time when all necessities must have been concluded.
I hope and believe that, in the nearest future our fate that we have decided today, shall be a memory that shall forever bring joy to the hearts of all concerned.”
