The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has approved the appointment of Abdurrazak Datti Salihi as the Executive Chairman of Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS).

Salihi replaces Bala Muhammad Inuwa, who had been in the seat in acting capacity for four months.

Ganduje thanked and commended him (Inuwa) for “acting well.

“We are delighted by Inuwa’s courage and dedication to KIRS. As Acting Chairman, he captained very well the ship of KIRS from March to date,” the governor said.

Inuwa now remains the Managing Director (MD) of Kano State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) -a position he held while chairing KIRS.

Ganduje, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Abba Anwar, said Salihi’s appointment is with immediate effect.

The new KIRS boss (Salihi) is a financial analyst, Chattered and Certified Tax Accountant. It was gathered he has over 20 years of experience and skills in financial management in banking and private sector.

Until his appointment, Salihi was the Director, State Integrated Financial Management Information System (SIFMIS) at the Kano State Ministry of Finance. Before then, he had served as Director of Personal Income Tax (PIT), Kano State Internal Revenue Service.

He also held the position of Head of Finance/Regional Accountant, Bank of Agriculture (BoA), Kano Zonal office. He was also Manager, Nigerian Agricultural Cooperative and Rural Development Bank (NACRDB) in Sokoto State and Head of Finance of the same bank, among other positions.

Governor Ganduje urged the new the new KIRS chairman to serve well and work closely with his staff so as to move the place forward for the overall development of Kano state.
