In a bid to tackle the security challenges facing the state, Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State on Monday, March 6, conveyed a Security Council meeting.

The meet which was held at the Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, was Oyetola himself.

Others government officials present at the meeting are: the Deputy Governor of the State of Osun, Benedit Olugboyega Alabi, the Secretary to the state Government, Wole Oyebamiji; Chief of Staff, Charles Akinola; Deputy Chief of Staff, Abdullahi Binuyo; some executive cabinet members.

All service heads attached to the State which includes: Police, Army, Air Force, DSS, Immigration, Correctional Service, NSCDC and NDLEA.

According to police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, security issues affecting the state were discussed and solutions towards addressing them were fathomed out.

Among issues discussed are: Infiltration into the states of herdsmen/bandits/kidnappers artisanal miners, thuggery & Cultism, Communal clashes, Armed Robbery, Proliferation of Arms and Ammunitions, increased cases of accident, labour union crisis, school protection etc.
Consequent upon this, the Police as the lead agency in internal security and all other heads of security agencies have mapped out security mechanisms to checkmate the above criminal activities in the state.

The State Executive Governor, having listened to the efforts put in place by the security agencies, appreciated the efforts of the security agencies, while promising to assist in providing a better working environment to enable the officers put in their maximum effort.

The Commissioner of Police therefore, urged the good citizens of the state to support, collaborate and cooperate with the state government, the Police and other security agencies at making the state secured to live and go about their lawful businesses without fear of insecurity.
