A Kwara-based medical doctor, Abbas Adio, has murdered a  taxu driver, Emmanuel Oyiobo, by trickishly injecting him with a substance which took his life in Benin City, Edo State.

Spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola, while parading the suspect  on Tuesday in Osogbo at the Police Headquarters, said the suspect was arrested while freeing with the deceased’s car.

Opalola said Osun State Command received a distress call from Edo State Command that “Toyota Camry car (YAB 368 CN) was snatched from Benin and tracked to Osun State”.

“The Osun Police Command quickly put security mechanism in place and the said car was intercepted along Ejigbo/Ogbomoso road and Adio was arrested” she said.

She added that during the preliminary stage of the investigation “Adio travelled from Kwara State to Benin in Edo State and met one Emmanuel Oyiobo, a taxi driver who was drove him for the days he spent in Benin and they became friends and exchanged contact and have been communicating since then”.

“The Adio communicated with the deceased Oyiobo, in Benin that he wanted to sell his Car and Oyibo agreed to pay the sum of one million four hundred thousand naira only. (#1.4m) for the car”.

“During Adio stay in Benin after selling his Car, he trickishly injected Oyibo (deceased) with a substance suspected that took his life 3rd of September, 2022 and dumped his corpse in a nearby bush and made away his white Toyota Camry muscle” She said.

Opalola said the Osun Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode has earlier promised the people of Osun State, not to make the State a safe haven for criminals and solicits for the cooperation and collaboration of the members of the State by given prompt and useful information to the Police”.
