The Majlis Khuddam-Ul-Ahmadiyya, Nigeria, Osun State, a voluntary Youth Organization under National Youth Council of Nigeria on Sunday, 13th of March, 2022, donated blood to the Blood Bank of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

The organisation after her monthly State meeting held in Inisha, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the State moved en mass to the hospital for the blood donation exercise, which is part of its humanitarian and quarterly programme of the youth organization.

According to Oladejo Haneef, one of the members of the group, the exercise was part of the organisation’s commitment to humanitarian services and most importantly, sacrificial way to worship Allah.

“Thus the system of voluntary donation of blood by MKAN members was driven by Islamic injunctions” Oladejo said.

He continued by enumerating the importance of blood donation to the human body and human being in general. “Blood Donation is an integral part of every individual to stay healthy and keep in check his health status. Therefore, while donating to save lives, the members are ensuring their fitness health -wise”.

InsightMedia gathered that no fewer than 30 individuals came to the Teaching Hospital to donate blood without getting any remuneration for it, whatsoever.
According to them, the exercise has always been to help vulnerable individuals who are not financially buoyant to get blood with little or no amount of money.

Assiduously the organization takes care of her members’ welfare, owing to the fact that one must be in good health at the time of the donation. One cannot donate if he has a cold, flu, sore throat, cold sore, stomach bug or any other infection. If someone recently had a tattoo or body piercing, such an individual cannot donate for 6 months from the date of the procedure.

Oladejo used the medium to analyse the benefits of donating blood to people who needs it to survive.” The benefits of blood donation are so numerous. It is a fact that once someone donates blood, he has saved a life, whether it is known or not. However, this act benefits the donor in different ways: it can reveal potential health issues; it can reduce harmful iron stores; it may lower the risk of suffering a heart attack; it may reduce the risk of developing cancer; it can help the liver to stay healthy and help one’s mental state.” He explained

“The health benefits of donating blood are considerable—but of course, the most important part of the process is helping to save lives. Donating blood is good for you, and it’s even better for all the people who desperately need the help.”
