Alumni of the famous Ilesha Grammar School have expressed their gratitude to Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State over the recent reversal to old names done in education sector.

The alumni, who expressed their happiness over the policy, said the reversal has not only restored the glory of this school, but also shows the governor has a listening ear.

It would be recalled that in the reclassification of schools by the previous administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Osun State, Ilesha Grammar school was tactically phased out, which came to many as a big surprise especially the old students of the school who are familiar with the history of the school.

Speaking with newsmen, two of the alumni of the school, Dr. Oladimeji Alo and Mr Muyiwa Ayodele showered praises on the governor for the policy.

Alo said “the name has restored the glory of the school and for this the old students and the whole Ijeshaland are grateful to Governor Oyetola for deeming it fit to reverse the name despite not being an Ijesha man.

Alo said that “this government is a serious government as it has taken steps to reactivate the school as the bush that has covered the school has been cleared off.”

Ayodele said Oyetola has succeeded in bringing back the lost glory of the school and that of ijeshaland by reversing back to the old name which the forefather worked so hard to laid down the school.

According to Ayodele “the school had produced great men like Pa Lateef Jakande , Pastor E.A Adeboye, Late Justices Kayode Eso and so many others and so many of these great men will be delighted to see the glory of the school restored to its original name.

Mr Muyiwa said that “the old students in diaspora had plan to support the government by making a enomorous donation in the area of Information and Communication Technology and building a befiting school hall for the school to show their gratitude to the governor for this stride step taken to restore the glory of our school.”
