NANS VP presenting the Award to Olarinde

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Sunday honoured the Aare Musulumi of Ifon-Osun, Engr Ishaq Olarinde as the Association’s Icon of Hope.

The programme, held in Osogbo, had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life who have come to honour the Ifon-born philanthropist. The award according to NANS President, Sunday Asefon, is in recognition of Olarinde’s efforts towards giving better lives to the people at the grassroots.

Asefon, who was represented by Nurudeen Olatunji, said the association wishes to recognize relentless efforts of some philanthropists and supporters of NANS across the four zones of the association.

He said among those selected to be honoured are Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; Edo Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu; Former Senators, Shehu Sani and Dino Melaye and Aare Musulumi of Ifon-Osun, Engr Ishaq Olarinde.

He commended the efforts of Engr Olarinde for all he has been doing at the grassroots, adding that the association will be looking forward to such gesture extended to the national headquarters of NANS.

In his appreciation message, Olarinde advised youths to know that whatever they are doing today, people are watching them and that they will be rewarded in no distant time.

He appreciated NANS for the honour, adding that he would continue to strive hard for the betterment of those at the grassroots. He dedicated the Award to his late father, Alhaji Ashifat Olarinde, a former Commissioner in Osun State.

Speaking with InsightMedia, a community leader in Ifon-Osun, Prince Jide Akinyooye described the award as a round peg in a round hole. He said the life of Engr Olarinde has demonstrated that he has a large heart and is ready to assist humanity.

He said, “look at what he has done. Not only for Ifon-Osun, but for humanity at large. The Osogbo-Ilobu-Ifon road was recently rehabilitated by him. Some many activities have been executed by tis young man and he’s not a politician nor looking to be one. That’s why I said it’s a round peg in a round hole and we’re happy that his activities get national recognition.”
