NBC Sanctions Channels, AIT, NTA 43 Others Over Airing Of Indecent Political Campaigns

The National Broadcasting Commission ( NBC ) has rolled out sanctions on AIT, NTA, Channels and  43 other broadcast stations across the nation for airing political campaigns laced with foul languages.

The sanction according to the Director General of NBC, Mallam Modibo Kawu is a a payment of N500, 000 each.

The commission is expected to realize a total sum of N22.5million from the sanction.

NTA, AIT, Channels, TVC lead the pack of sanctioned stations in the build-up to the just concluded presidential and National elections.

The stations which cut across the country was said to have committed some infractions which is against the broadcasting code.

NBC has, therefore, warned that it would not pardon any station that run foul of the code in the coming governorship, state Assembly and FCT council polls on the 9th of March.

The Director General added that the commission will be forced to use the sledge hammer should any station contravene the code.
