A Non-governmental Organisation in Osun State, Future Builders Initiative through her #BeADecider Campaign, has urged Nigerian youths to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and use their large population in electing credible candidates in the 2023 general elections.

The Executive Director of Organisation, Abdulwarith Opeyemi Oladimeji, who made the call while speaking at the 2022 Edition of the Osun Facebook Hangout held on Sunday 18th December, said that voting credible candidates would ensure their dreams and aspirations are attained.

“The youths, which consist over 60 per cent of the Nigerian voting populace, should endeavor to collect their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and be ready to actively and peaceful participate in the 2023 elections.

Oladimeji also advised youths to shun all sorts of violence and embrace peaceful participation in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

He urged that whatever aggression that the youths may have should be channelled to the 2023 elections towards voting for credible candidates that would ensure the attainment of their dreams and aspirations.

“Nigerian youths should rethink and be part of the country’s electoral process, for the actualization of a desired and deserved country. This is what the #BeADecider campaign intends to achieve.

“A situation whereby the youths do not show interest in the country’s electoral process would mean conceding their birth rights to politicians, whose policies may not reflect the collective objective of the populace, especially young Nigerians,” he said.

Oladimeji advocated for good electioneering process devoid of violence, killings and other electoral vices ahead of the 2023 elections.

He noted that the Organisation’s #BeADecider advocacy campaign would be a platform to elect forward-thinking leaders of their choice and for a better nation.

On his part, the Programme Officer of the Organisation, Olutayo Akande said that INEC had commenced issuance of PVCs since Dec. 12 at their Local Government offices of and would continue to Jan. 22, 2023.

Akande, therefore, urged the youths to take advantage of the opportunity to exercise their franchise.

Insight Media reports that Future Builders Initiative kick-started its enlightenment campaign, themed BeADecider, a campaign to sensitize Nigerian youths to participate in the election of visionary leaders.

The #BeADecider Campaign is a youth-led and citizens-focused voters education and sensitization initiative geared towards increasing peaceful electoral participation, through data-driven engagement, youth re-orientation, and community mobilization.

The #BeADecider Campaign is implemented with the support from the Nigeria Youth Future Funds (NYFF) of the LEAP Africa, which is co-funded by the Ford Foundation and MarArthur Foundation.
