Barely four months after resolving the 34-year old Ikire Royal stool crisis, Osun Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, today, presented staff of Office and Instrument of Authority to the new Owaloko of Ijesa-Iloko, Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe, Ajagbusi-Ekun VI.

The stool became vacant about nine years ago following the demise of Oba Oladele Olashore in the year 2012.

At the event, where Chief Bisi Akande, former Osun Governor was pronounced Baba Oba by the new Oba, Oyetola charged the new Kabiyesi to rule with love and compassion.

The Governor was accompanied to the event by prominent Osun leaders including Chief Akande, his deputy, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Prof. Olu Aina among others.

Oyetola equally appealed to the new monarch to cooperate with all traditional rulers in Ijesaland and across Osun to move the State forward, adding that “our Administration is committed to ensuring peace and welfare for the people and providing equitable and quality infrastructure, good health and education for the overall development of the people. Ijesaland, including Iloko-Ijesa, has enjoyed some of these facilities. We shall not relent in extending more of these gestures to Iloko -Ijesa and Ijesaland.”

On his part, the new Kabiyesi thanked the Governor for rekindling the hope of a community that had yearned for an Oba for almost nine years, saying Oyetola’s action was a clear indication that God is indeed with the Governor.

He prayed for the success of the administration.
