NYSC Corps member dies while reporting to PPA after 3 weeks orientation

A fatal accident which occurred in Taraba State on Monday, July 8, 2019, has claimed life of corps member of National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) with 19 others injured.

The deceased was heading to his primary place of assignment in Sarduna Local Government Area of the state, when the Toyota Hiace bus he was traveling with rammed into with a minibus leading to a collision.
Confirming the incident, Taraba’s coordinator of NYSC , Florence Yaakugh told Channels TV;

“It was a minibus that had a head-on collision with a Toyota Hiace bus conveying the corps members to Sarduna Local Government Area of the state for their primary assignments.

“The accident, according to some eyewitnesses, occurred when the minibus was attempting to overtake two trailers at a time, but could not make it leading to the accident. It is not an easy moment for me and the entire NYSC in Taraba State”, she said.

She further revealed that five corps members injured in the accident are still receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center in Jalingo, the state capital, while others have been discharged.
