Mrs Betty Anyawu-Akeredolu, wife of the Governor of Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has tested positive for COVID-19.

An official statement from the governor’s office on Thursday confirmed.

“The samples of the First Lady which was collected two days ago and one of the security aides of the governor returned positive this morning.”

The official added that the First Lady has embarked on self-isolation but said:

“We are still awaiting the results of some media aides of the governors and some commissioners who interact with the state governor regularly.”

The source added that Oluwatoyin Adegbenro, wife of the late commissioner for health, has also tested positive for COVID-19.

InsightMedia has reported that Wahab Adegbenro, the Commissioner for Health in the state died on Thursday from COVID-19 complications.

Mrs Adegbenro is said to be receiving treatment at the hospital of her late husband in Akure, the state capital.

Governor Akeredolu tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, June 30.
