Although it is being played down by all actors, the crisis rocking the Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress is currently gaining momentum, as loyalists of the immediate past governor and Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and those in the camp of the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola are ‘schooling’ each other on Facebook.
Aregbesola had on Friday during his installation as the Amirul Wazirul-Muminina in Osogbo, debunked the rumour that the relationship between him and his successor is getting sour, stating that they remain as cordial as ever.
However, the turn of events after that comment has revealed that the APC in the state is battling with crisis. One of such event is the absence of state officials – including those from Osogbo – at the constituency office commissioning of the senator representing Osun Central, Dr Ajibola Basiru, which was done by Aregbesola on Saturday.
In another turn of event, the Special Adviser to Governor Oyetola on Education, Mr Jamiu Babatunde Olawumi wrote on his Facebook page;
“The rug always has an owner. It is always regimented. There is a Sheriff in town. One at a time ni!” 
In an analytical reply to the message, a former commissioner for regional integration in the state and now Special Adviser to Aregbesola, Mr Bola Ilori held that the rug belongs to the people while the Sheriff is a tenant that coordinates what happens on it.
He commented, “My dear brother,
This position is neither right nor helpful to the real owners of the RUG, the SHERIFF and even the RUG itself.
“The owner of the RUG is the entire community and it is held in perpetuity. So, the RUG has never belonged to a single owner at any time and it is never regimented.
“What you have by turn is an ANCHOR TENANT who coordinates the stay on the RUG with other key tenants, including those on the other side of the divide on the RUG.
“The misunderstanding of this key philosophical basis of housekeeping is the basis of the current dilemma.
“Those who currently wrongly believe that the SHERIFF is the owner of the RUG are those ignorantly prodding the SHERIFF to tear the RUG just because they are of the opinion that they can excommunicate anybody from the RUG to proof they are the only owner of the RUG. Such attempts are exercises in futility and a recipe for disastrous outing on the RUG.
“It’s enough to remind us to learn from the previous SHERIFFs, they have always accommodated and celebrated the previous SHERIFFs. The last SHERIFF accommodated and celebrated all the previous SHERIFF without exception (even much more resoundingly) when fate brought them to the same side of the RUG. I wish to believe that the current SHERIFF is fully aware and following the same path.
“The RUG is for all and the SHERIFF is an ANCHOR TENANT that fate has given no choice than to stay with others on the RUG, trying anything to the contrary is to deny the Chief Tenant the peace he needs to coordinate the affairs on the RUG.
“What is helpful to the owners of the RUG, the SHERIFF and even the RUG is to preach and encourage peace.
- “I pray the current SHERIFF is not misguided by wrongly conceived philosophy.”
