An Osun State Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 44-year-old Islamic Cleric, Kazeem Elemo in correctional facility for allegedly have carnal knowledge of a woman who went to her for spiritual cleansing.

Dr Segun Ayilara remanded Elemo in Ilesa correctional center after he was arraigned by police over two-count charges bordering on sexual harassment.

Elemo, who is a resident of Oba-Ile in Olorunda local government area, was accused of giving the victim alcohol before he sexually exploited her.

The charge sheet reads, “That you KAZEEM ELEMO ‘M’, on the 20th day of March 2023 at about 3:30pm at Oba-lle, Osun State in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did unlawfully take undue advantage of one (name withheld) ‘f’ when she came to you for spiritual cleansing, which you gave her alcohol to drink and sexually exploited her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 32 of the Child’s Rights Laws of Osun State 2007.

“That you KAZEEM ELEMO ‘M’, on the same date, time, place and in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully and indecently assault one (name withheld) ‘f’ by putting your mouth on her breasts and your finger on her private part and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, laws of Osun State Nigeria, 2002.”

Elemo pleaded not guilty to the charges when read to him.

Magistrate Ayilara adjourned the case to May 15 for hearing on application for bail.
