As the People’s Democratic Party set to hold ward congress nationwide, the embattled Chairman of the party in Osun State, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo raised alarm over ploy to suspend or expell some members of the party loyal to his faction by Sunday Bisi-led State Working Committee.
Adagunodo cautioned party officers against making themselves instruments in the hands of mischief makers whose ambition is to seek power at all cost.
In a statement he personally signed on Saturday, Adagunodo hinted that he was aware of series of threat reports of harassments, intimidation, suspension and expulsions against some individuals who have been perceived as associating with people whom they think can help in realising their ambitions.
The embattled chairman explained that he was bringing it to their notice that the threat had increased since the National Secretariat of the PDP released the time table and guidelines for party ward congresses in the state.
While warning perpetrators of the act to desist from such, he disclosed that nobody is empowered by the party constitution to restrict, hinder or suspend any party member from associating with whoever they decide to associate with.
In order to avoid any unnecessary misunderstanding and breach of constitution, Adagunodo advised party officials to seek understanding of the details of the constitution of the party.
Osun State Governorship elections is slated for July 16 by the Independent National Electoral Commission while the primaries of political parties are expected to be wrapped up on March 12, 2022.
