The Osun State Coordinator for VotenotFight campaign, Mr Jare Tiamiyu met with other Non Government Organisations during the grand finale of 16 days Activitism to End Violence against women and girl child, on Saturday at Nigeria Union of Journalist Secretariat, Osogbo, to emphasize on VoteNotFight Campaign.

Addressing the gathering of over 60 persons, Mr Tiamiyu said the VotenotFight campaign is aimed at having a peaceful elections in Osun State and across Nigeria.

Tiamiyu, who is also the Executive Director of Insight Initiative for Community and social Development, said his organization will be ready to partner with activists and heads of other organizations to have VoteNotFight campaigns in the domain.

Speaking further, he added that the objective is to have a peaceful election because chaotic elections has caused severe damages in the past.

“In Osun State, history taught us after the governorship elections in 2007 between our former Governors, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Ogeni Rauf Aregbesola, the crisis that trailed it left to loss of lives and properties. Several people including women were displaced and many fled their residence because of the violence that erupted during that period. But 2022 Governorship election election has been adjudged to be the best election in the history of the State. This was due to rigorous campaign embarked upon by this team.”

“We needs to remind ourselves, we should inform people to VoteNotFight because Election no be war and we want to 2023 General Election to be better than the 2022 Governorship election” he concluded.

Osun State Director of National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mr Ibikunle declared his support for the VotenotFight campaign as he once again endorsed the campaign.

He urged the people of Osun State to vote peacefully during the 2023 General Election because Election no be war.
