OYSIEC seeks collaboration with OSIEC for a successful LG polls

 

Members of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission were at the headquarters of the Osun Independent Electoral Commission to compare notes and exchange ideas on how to conduct a free, fair, credible and acceptable Local Government polls in the Pace Setters state come May this year.

Explaining the rationale behind the visit, the team lead, who is also a Commissioner in the commission, Chief Kunmi Agboola said the visit became imperative considering the huge experience members of Osun Independent Electoral Commission have garnered over the years.

According to a statement by the OSIEC director of press and publicity, Babatunde Fanawopo, the visit which was at the behest of the Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), was among other things out to build on the existing cordial relationship between the two states for a favorable and acceptable electoral process in Oyo State.

Explaining how critical the local government poll is to the people at the grassroot level, Chief Agboola declared that the synergy became imperative to deliver a process that will be acceptable to all and sundry.

While thanking the OSIEC team for a warm reception and accommodation, he said the OYSIEC will always be willing to learn and drink from the wealth of experience of OSIEC to ensure a credible performance on their part.

Responding, the Chairman, Osun Independent Electoral Commission, Otunba Segun Oladitan preached unity of purpose among members of state Independent Electoral Commissions in Nigeria.

According to Otunba Oladitan, at the level of Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions in Nigeria, the success of each commission is always a priority and hence, all member states must emulate such virtue.

While pledging the collaboration of OSIEC with the OYSIEC in every area of the process that is necessary, the OSIEC boss said with the approach adopted by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, the May LG election in Oyo State is bound to be a huge success.

Others on the entourage of the OYSIEC team include Mr. Emmanuel Olanrewaju, Alhaja Ganiyat Saka and Mr. Babatunde Adeniyi who are all commissioners.
