Lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Ejigbo federal constituency, Bamidele Salam has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the federal government to immediately resolve the lingering strike embarked upon by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
Salam made this call on Monday in Ede, Osun State during the distribution of bursary awards to 1,000 tertiary institutions students who are indigents of his constituency.
He said the strike has retarded the development of the affected students, calling for an immediate resolution of the the crisis.
He said, “I want to use this medium to call on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to immediately resolve the lingering strike by ASUU. It’s affecting the students psychologically. Keeping them at home is dangerous.
“I call on President Buhari to find lasting solution to it immediately.”
ASUU strike has lasted for over seven months with no solution in sight. Several negotiations between the union and the FG have broken down.
InsightMedia also recalled that the lawmaker on Sunday awarded bursary to 200 secondary school students in the Constituency after a three-day teenagers leadership bootcamp for them.
