Motorists and motorcyclists plying Ilobu-Osogbo are currently lamenting extortion by men of the Nigeria Police and Amotekun Corps stationed on the Ojutu bridge at the entrance of Ilobu in Irepodun local government area of Osun State.

Police officers and other security agents were deployed to the spot following the communal clash between Ilobu and Erin-osun two weeks ago.

According to a commercial bus driver, Abdulharit Bello, motorists plying the road since the state government lifted curfew are being subjected to extortion by security agents who are on peace mission in the area.

Bello said, “what we face on daily basis on that bridge is a bit of hell. Police Officers and Amotekun Corps have positioned themselves in three places and they force us to pay minimum of N100 at each point. The worst of it is that if we pass through the place five times, we would have pay that amount in those five times.”

A commercial motorcycle rider, who simply identified himself as Taiye also told our Correspondent that the police on the stationed at the entrance of the town are inflicting more pains on people than bringing about peace as expected of them.

When our Correspondent visited the area on Thursday night, military men have vacated the area but police were seen stopping vehicles and demanding for N100 each from all vehicles that plied the road during that time.
