The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has debunked document making the rounds that it named universities owned by means of State governments quack.

INSIGHT MEDIA reports that several media systems had been on Friday flooded with reactions to purported declaration via the ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke that nation universities are quack and not be taken seriously.

Recall that Professor Osodeke had on Thursday regarded on Arise TV the place he addressed some issues involving the ongoing industrial motion embarked upon by means of ASUU over six months ago.

Speaking about some State universities that currently pulled out of the struggle, the ASUU president said, “talk about necessary universities not these quacks. They’re not section of our strike”.

The development has induced backlash from some State universities and concerned Nigerians who lambasted the ASUU president for allegedly naming State universities ‘quack’.

Recall that the Vice-Chancellor, Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye while reacting to the document yesterday, described ASUU president as a careless talker by way of announcing universities that are no longer on strike are ‘quacks’.

Professor Adebooye stated the State university has 481 full-time educational workforce and among them, 387 are full-time Ph.D. holders, “this is now not a quack.”

However, talking with INSIGHT MEDIA on Saturday, the ASUU president debunked the record pronouncing he used to be misquoted by the media.

According to Osodeke, he used to be referring to only three universities owned through State governments which are currently now not on strike.

Describing the file as fake, Osodeke lamented unprofessionalism in reportage, alleging that the media aimed at creating confusion in the system.

He said, “There is nothing like that. It is a lie. I have advised myself that I will not speak to the press again due to the fact they constantly misrepresent things.

“I have determined out that Nigerian press is specialised in manipulating interviews, reporting what anybody did now not say simply to create confusion in the system. They won’t report matters the way it is”.
