Nine persons were reportedly kidnapped on Saturday in Kwara South Senatorial District of the state.
Insight Media gathered that the incident occurred at about 5 pm.
While seven persons were kidnapped between Oke-Onigbin and Eleyin on OmuAran highway, two others were abducted between OmuAran-Ekanmeje axis on the same day.
Confirming the development on Sunday night, the spokesman of the state police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, said, ” Reports of two kidnap incidents were received simultaneously by the state police command on Saturday at about 1735hours to the effect that along OmuAran highway and Ekiti-Ekanmeje axis, six armed men emerged from the bush and stopped a Sienna bus in transit from Ekiti State on its way to Ilorin and the seven occupants of the vehicle were marched into the bush.”
He said the command promptly dispatched it’ls tactical units comprising the anti-kidnapping and anti-cultists units, joined by local hunters and vigilantes, while police patrols on the route were also alerted.

“The abductors were instantly chased into the bushes, five out of the seven abducted persons were rescued, and efforts are still on top gear to get the remaining two captives rescued,” he added.
Deploying similar tactics by the operatives, those abducted in Ekanmeje /Ekiti axis using the same modus operandi, were equally rescued, remaining a pastor and his wife who the command is frantically doing everything possible to rescue unhurt,” the spokesman further stated.
Okasanmi, disclosed that some suspects have been arrested and are helping the command in its investigation.

He said the situation was under control, advising the good people of Kwara State to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation.
According to him, patrols of all the routes in the state have been intensified.
Any suspected activity within our immediate environments should be reported to the police without delay,” he added.
