A former governor of Bauchi State, Malam Isa Yuguda, on Monday, August 22, 2022, said presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will effectively tackle the problem of corruption in Nigeria after his victory in the 2023 general elections.

Speaking on a Channels Television programme, Yuguda, who is also a former Minister of Aviation, disclosed that as a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) he witnessed monumental corruption during the party’s 16 years of reign which was inherited by the present administration.

However, he said the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari has failed in its promise to fight corruption despite trying its best.

Yuguda who is also a chieftain of APC said “he is optimistic that with Tinubu at the helm of affairs, the crisis of corruption will be dealt with.

“Corruption is an inherited dilemma and it is getting worse whether we like it or not until Nigerians come to the reality that corruption is killing us and it will kill us finally. Everybody is corrupt, I’m afraid”, he declared.

“This Government came intending to fight corruption but we don’t know the kind of landmines that were placed on their way to be sabotaged”.

“We are very positive that the APC government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will address the problem. Of course, I am very positive that he is going to win”.

“If Nigerians are wise, if you are there to appraise somebody based on performance, among all the candidates you have, he is the only person that has something to show for”, he affirmed.

He said Tinubu has set up structures in making Lagos a middle-income economy State, He also laid the foundation for the governors after him and he can headhunt.”

Last month, a former member of the board of trustees (BoT) of the APC Buba Galadima decried the approach of President Buhari towards nipping corruption in the bud in his administration.

Galadima, while giving his assessment of the fight against corruption in Nigeria, said the arrest of the former Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris did not justify that the Buhari-led administration was fighting corruption.

The former ally of Buhari has, however, said whoever becomes the President has got a lot of work to do.
