Family and friends of the Bilyamin Bello, son of the former Chairman of Peoples’ Democratic Party, Haliru Bello gathered at Unity Fountain to celebrate his birthday.

Bilyamin was last week allegedly killed by his wife, Maryam.

Thursday was supposed to be the 36th birthday of Bilyamin but he never witnessed it.

Some Human Right On Friday, an Abuja court reprimanded the Maryam after the police filed charges of culpable homicide against her. The offence is punishable by death.

Her counsel, Mr. Oseni Musa has appealed to court to grant her bill because she is a nursing mother.

But the trial judge asked the counsel to file a formal application but till then, Maryam should be in Suleja prison.

The court adjourned the case until December 7th, 2017.Activists used the avenue to preach against domestic violence.

According to a friend of the deceased, Biliyaminu Aliyu. He blamed the act of Maryam on dwindling culture among the children of today

“A lot of parents have neglected our culture in the name of westernisation in the way we treat our children. If we have good upbringing, we will have good conscience.

“A person who is well brought-up will not hurt another person. Biliyamin was my very good friend. We met in Sokoto during our undergraduate days. He was three years ahead of me. He was the kind of person that didn’t worry too much about himself but always thought about others and their opinions.

“Even on the night he died, I called him round 9.20pm and honestly he didn’t tell me he had any problem because normally, he will not even tell you when he had problems. He cared about the problems of others. But I am glad he has gone to where there is no more pain.”
