Youths, most especially Yoruba have been charged to be conscious of the values, culture and economic prowess of Yoruba race as they are the solutions to present predicaments facing Nigeria.

Governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and The Alase of Ilase-Ijesa, Oba Isiaka Adesina Ajalabiolu ll made this known while addressing Yoruba youths at the inauguration of State Executive Council of Yoruba Youth Council in Osogbo.

Governor Aregbesola who was represented by Director, Hotel and Hospitality, office of culture and tourism, State of Osun, charged the Yoruba youths to look inwards and come with a developmental agenda that will further foster the unity amongst them and also boost the economy of the region.

He expressed the readiness of the State of Osun to partner with the young individuals in the state towards bringing a new dawn that everyone desires.

In his remarks, Oba Adesina urged the youths be conscious of the imported traditions that tend to annihilate the Yoruba cultures.

He said, “there is a great need for Yoruba youths to retrace their steps and resuscitate the dying culture, economic prowess and local wisdom of the Yoruba, most especially among the youths.”

The Royal Father who expressed his delights over the programmes of YYC at all levels, churned out his royal blessings on the State Executives and urged them to be good ambassadors of Yoruba race.

Speaking at the event, the guest lecturer, Professor Clement Adebooye, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Osun State University, extensively discussed the needs for the youths to go back to agriculture as a the only ever-green job.

The academician who was represented by the Head, Department of Agric Economics and Extension, highlighted the arrays of opportunities that remain untapped in agricultural sector and charged the government, Royal fathers and other stakeholders to make available the required technology and lands for the youths to successfully operate in the sector.

Don’t betray the council – YYC National President tell EXCOS

Speaking at the event, the National President of Yoruba Youth Council, Mr. Oluwole Eric delivered the good wishes of the National executives and urged the Osun State chapter to take a cue from the developmental activities embarked upon by the National level of the council.

He warned the executives not to betray the council and urged them to shun indecency, corruption and sentiments of any nature.

“I want to plead with you all, don’t betray the council. Shun indecency, corruption, sentiments and other vices that can tarnish the image of the council as you are mirrors of Yoruba youths anywhere.”

Our leaders disappoint us with their absence – Olanrewaju

Speaking with InsightMedia shortly after the inauguration, the Osun State Chairman of the council, Comrade Wahab Kazeem Olanrewaju expressed his disappointment over the absence of several invited leaders and eminent personalities in the State.

He said “We are so disappointed about the absence of several political leaders that we invited. As youths, we are trying our best to make sure that Yorubaland remains a source of motivation for others in terms of decency, entrepreneurship, morality and agricultural development. But we need the support and guidance of our leaders to make our lofty aims realities”.

Olanrewaju, while commending Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for his uncommon leadership skills and for sending a worthy representative to the programme, advised other political leaders to always reckon with the activities of the youths.

He also pin-pointed that “YYC remains the only avenue to reach out to all the youths in the State of Osun”.
