The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed Saturday’s local government areas congress in Imo State as the state secretariat of the party was set ablaze by unknown men.

The postponement is also to allow the party’s appeal committee on the ward congress conducted in the state to submit its report to the leadership of the APC.

APC’s decision follows a meeting between Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun; and other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

According to Mr Odigie-Oyegun who confirmed the development, a new date for the congress will be announced soon.

Mr Okorocha is believed to have lost out in the ward congress held in Imo last Saturday.

He has been having a running battle with a cross section of APC leaders in Imo sSate over the outcome of the ward congress.

While Mr Okorocha insisted that no congress was held in the state, those opposing him, led by the deputy governor, Eze Madumere, said the elections were held.

On Friday evening, the state secretariat of the APC was set ablaze by unknown persons in what appears to be a fall out of the ward Congress.
